How to Write a Blog Post to Rank in Google 2023

So you’ve started blogging.

It’s a great way to start building traffic, acquiring new customers, and developing brand awareness.

But I have some bad news.

Unless your articles are ranking well in Google search, you’re not going to make much progress. Understanding SEO is critical to making your website presence stand out.

To accomplish that, you need to implement some proven tactics to boost your ranking in Google.

This is your guide to getting your content ranked higher.

Let’s dive in!

Optimize for keywords

The first and perhaps most important part of your SEO strategy is optimizing for the right keywords.

Keywords are so important that I consider them one of the keys to on-page SEO.

But to do this right, you need to understand what keywords are best for your blog articles.

You’ll need to conduct some research before writing and use the results as the basis for your content. The best way to do this is to run a search of your keyword on Ubersuggest:

Step #1: Enter Your Head Keyword and Click “Search”

Content marketing is your primary keyword, but you want to find long-tail keywords to include in your content.

With the results above, you can start with 415 suggestions. And if that’s not enough, click the “Related” tab for another 11,545.

In addition to a long list of keywords, the results also include:

  • Volume – the number of monthly searches per month in Google
  • CPC – the average cost per click to pay for a Google Ad
  • PD – estimated competition in paid search, with higher numbers more competitive
  • SD – estimated competition in organic search, with higher numbers more competitive

As a general rule of thumb, search for high volume keywords with a high CPC and low SD.

High volume is ideal because it shows that you can get plenty of traffic if you rank on the first page. Also, keywords with a high CPC typically convert best. And finally, a low SD means it’s easier to reach the first page.
