AIIMS Delhi has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the healthcare sector skill council (HSSC) to facilitate the skilling, reskilling, and upskilling of various categories of hospital staff. The HSSC, recognized by the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), will assess and certify candidates on skill qualifications in the healthcare sector, including AYUSH, social sector, and hospital management services.
The HSSC has expressed its intention to designate AIIMS as its Center of Excellence (CoE), which would serve as a role model for maintaining the highest standards in leadership, best practices, research, support, and skill training within a specific sector, as stated in the memorandum.
AIIMS will collaborate with HSSC to provide skill certification to its staff members across different cadres, with a focus on enhancing the patient experience. The training process will involve master trainers from AIIMS being trained by HSSC, who will subsequently train others. Successful completion of the training program will lead to skill certification in collaboration with HSSC. The initial training will begin with security and housekeeping staff.
The memorandum requests the concerned personnel at AIIMS to nominate 20 master trainers each for the program, which is scheduled to be held in June 2023. The nominations, along with contact details, should be submitted to the office of the director by May 30, according to the memorandum.
